Audition Call: Emerging & Pre-Professional Contemporary Dancers

Twisted Element is Australia’s only dance theatre company dedicated to creating original, immersive, multi-disciplinary performance experiences. Led by Artistic Director Angela Hamilton, the company merges contemporary dance theatre, design, and social experimentation to craft striking, experiential worlds.

We are seeking professional and strong pre-professional contemporary dancers (18+) to join the COMPANY'S 2026 Project — culminating in a major new production premiering March 6th, 2026.

Details:
Location: Sydney
Rehearsal Dates: Early January – March 6, 2026
Rehearsals: Sundays and one weekday evening (with additional tech and venue rehearsals closer to show week)
 

Eligibility:

• Must be 18 years or older.

• Strong contemporary technique, improvisation, and creative tasking ability.

• Confidence in embodying contrasting textures and mechanical movement qualities, signature to the Twisted Element movement language.

• Minimum two years of full-time contemporary dance training or equivalent experience.

• Interest in immersive, cross-disciplinary, or design-driven performance.
   

Audition Process:

• Stage 1: Submit video audition (details in form)

• Stage 2: Short online interview

• Applications close: November 30, 2025
   

*This is an unpaid opportunity for emerging and pre-professional dancers to develop alongside our professional long-standing company members and receive mentorship in dance theatre and immersive devising.
